Advent Study - Journeying the Way of Love

posted Nov 25, 2018, 4:08 PM by Saint Timothy's   [ updated Dec 23, 2018, 9:35 PM ]

Join us on Wednesdays (at 1:30 pm and 7:00 pm), beginning on November 28th, for an Advent study.

Everyone is welcome.

For the season of Advent, Journeying the Way of Love offers four sessions to be explored as we await the coming of Christ by moving through the first two chapters of the Gospel of Luke. Luke's gospel provides a pattern for understanding how we can live the Way of Love as individuals, as families and friends, as a community, and in our world.

See the calendaror this Facebook post (which has links to the four Facebook events).

February 14th, Valentines Day, is all about love. This year February 14th is also the beginning of Lent, a whole season about love, a much bigger kind of love.

Attached is a document containing a reflection on the Lent and Easter season, and the service times during Lent and Easter.

Lent Madness

It's madness. Lent Madness that is.

Lent Madness begins Thursday Feb. 15, 2018 (the day after Ash Wednesday) and, for the 4th year, St. Timothy's is abuzz with excitement.

To learn more about Lent Madness check out the website below. To find out participating, send an email lentmadness@sttimothy-edm.ca.

About Lent Madness
Lent Madness began in 2010 as the brainchild of the Rev. Tim Schenck. In seeking a fun, engaging way for people to learn about the men and women comprising the Church’s Calendar of Saints.

The format is straightforward: 32 saints are placed into a tournament-like single elimination bracket. Each pairing remains open for a set period of time and people vote for their favorite saint. See Brian or Sally for your copy of the Saintly Scorecard. If you prefer not to vote, read about a different Saint daily in your Saintly Scorecard during Lent as a Lenten devotion which gives you everything you need to know! We're in the Loop

An inductive loop for assisted listening that is.

St. Timothys has temporarily installed a portable inductive loop system (photos are of the installation). An inductive loop system creates a magnetic field that works with the T-Coil (telecoil) installed in many hearing aids.

According to the Canadian Hearing Society (www.chs.ca) nearly 1 in 4 Canadians report having some hearing loss. Doing what we can to make our services as accessible as possible is an important priority for us, and the early feedback has been incredibly positive.

If hearing loss has been keeping you from attending church, join us for a service and experience the difference. The system will be in place until January 7, 2018. While your hearing aid must have a T-Coil to work with the inductive loop, we do have a couple of portable listeners (which have a T-Coil in them) and headphones so you can hear the difference. You can try the portable listeners if your hearing aid does not have a T-Coil, or if your just curious about how it works.
